Mechanism of Action: Prednisolone is a synthetic adrenal corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant properties. It works by suppressing various components of the immune system and blocking multiple inflammatory mediators. This reduces swelling, itching, pain, and dampens the overall immune response.
Indications
Prednisolone has a very broad range of indications due to its potent anti-inflammatory effects. It is used to treat numerous conditions across almost every organ system:

• Rheumatic Disorders: Management of severe or incapacitating chronic inflammatory conditions (e.g., Rheumatoid Arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gouty arthritis).
• Collagen Diseases: Treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (Lupus), systemic vasculitis, and systemic dermatomyositis.
• Dermatologic Diseases: Management of Pemphigus, bullous dermatitis herpetiformis, severe erythema multiforme (Stevens-Johnson Syndrome), exfoliative dermatitis, and severe psoriasis.
• Allergic States: Control of allergic conditions (e.g., seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis, contact dermatitis, drug hypersensitivity reactions).
• Endocrine Disorders: Treatment of primary secondary adrenocortical insufficiency , congenital adrenal hyperplasia, and hypercalcemia associated with cancer.
• Ophthalmic Diseases: Management of  inflammatory processes involving the eye (e.g., allergic conjunctivitis, uveitis, optic neuritis, iritis).
• Respiratory Diseases: Symptomatic sarcoidosis, Loeffler’s syndrome not manageable by other means, and status asthmaticus.
• Hematologic & Neoplastic Disorders: Treatment of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), secondary thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia, lymphomas, leukemias, and multiple myeloma.
• Gastrointestinal Diseases: Management of inflammatory bowel diseases (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s disease).
