Description
Active Ingredient & Strength: Ferrous Bisglycinate 25mg, Folic Acid & B Complex
Therapeutic Class: Nutritional Supplement
Mechanism Of Action:
Ferrous bisglycinate is a chelated form of iron, where iron is bound to glycine. This structure allows it to pass through the digestive tract with higher bioavailability and significantly fewer gastrointestinal side effects (like constipation or nausea) than traditional iron salts.
Additionaly, essential vitamins act as cofactors in erythropoiesis (red blood cell production) and DNA synthesis.
Indications:
This combination is primarily indicated for the prevention and treatment of nutritional deficiencies, including:
- Iron-Deficiency Anemia (IDA): Treatment of patients with low hemoglobin levels due to poor dietary intake, chronic blood loss, or malabsorption.
- Pregnancy and Lactation Support: Prevention of maternal anemia and support for fetal development, specifically reducing the risk of neural tube defects (NTDs) and ensuring healthy birth weight.
- Mixed Nutritional Anemia: Management of anemias caused by simultaneous deficiencies in iron, folic acid, and B-vitamins (e.g., B12, B6).
- General Vitality & Energy Support: Reduction of tiredness and fatigue associated with suboptimal iron and vitamin levels in adults and adolescents.
Critical Safety Information
- Administration: Ideally taken on an empty stomach for maximum absorption; however, the bisglycinate form is gentle enough to be taken with food if stomach upset occurs.
- Interactions: Avoid taking simultaneously with dairy products, calcium supplements, or antacids, as these can significantly reduce iron absorption.
- Warning: Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under six. Keep this product strictly out of reach of children.
