Active Ingredient & Strength: Moxifloxacin 400mg
Therapeutic Class: Fluroquinolone Antibiotic
Mechanism Of Action:
It functions as bactericidal agent by inhibiting two essential bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and Topoisomerase IV.This action prevents the bacteria from replicating, repairing or transcribing their DNA, effectively killing them.
Indications:
Moxipray 400mg is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections in adults (18 years and older) caused by susceptible strains, including:

    • Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP)
    • Acute Bacterial Sinusitis (ABS)
    • Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis (AECB)
    • Skin & Soft Tissue Infections (uncomplicated & complicated)
    • Intra-Abdominal Infections

Critical Safety Warnings:

    • Instructions: Swallow tablets whole; do not crush, chew, or split. Drink plenty of fluids to protect your kidneys
    • Disabling and Irreversible Reactions: Fluoroquinolones, including moxifloxacin, are associated with disabling and potentially irreversible serious adverse reactions that can occur together, including tendinitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system (CNS) effects
    • Tendon Rupture: This medication increases the risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture (most commonly the Achilles tendon) in all ages. Risk is significantly higher in patients over 60, those taking corticosteroids, or organ transplant recipients.
    • QT Prolongation: Moxifloxacin can alter your heart rhythm (QT interval). Avoid if you have low potassium or are taking other heart rhythm medications.
    • Interactions: Products containing magnesium, aluminum, iron, or zinc (like antacids or multivitamins) can stop moxifloxacin from working. Take moxifloxacin at least 4 hours before or 8 hours after these products.
